My Story

When I began considering learning taxidermy I started researching every article I could find online and reading through any book I found at the library or at the book store. After that I purchased my first “how-to” taxidermy tape on mounting a life-size mountain lion.  I will admit, after watching all of the detail work that took place, I was a little intimidated. A couple weeks went by and I decided to purchase a few more videos on mounting pheasants, geese and squirrels. These mounts, being less demanding than the mountain lion, gave me the courage to finally spend some money, buy some supplies and just start doing something.

I am not going to lie, in the beginning there were some very frustrating moments throughout the different mounting processes, but that’s just how it goes when you are starting something brand new. What have helped out tremendously are the specimens I’ve gotten from a couple of good friends. They bring me quite a few animals, especially upland birds and waterfowl, to practice on.

That being said I am always looking for new birds and mammals that I have not yet done. As far as the work I’ve done presently goes, I have finished quite a few mounts, both birds and mammals, and am now doing game heads as well. Any mounts that I do that are not for customers I have proceeded to sell on eBay and have received nothing but positive comments. Considering that I essentially taught myself, God definitely deserves all the glory for what I have been able to do.
